De patella (knieschijf) hoort soepel te glijden in een groeve in het dijbeen, zodat de hond goed kan staan, lopen en springen. Bij luxatie verplaatst de knieschijf zich naar binnen (mediaal) of naar buiten (lateraal), wat leidt tot instabiliteit en pijn.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\">Symptomen en herkenning:\u00a0 Een opvallende \u201cknik in de knie\u201d (genu valgum), de poot draait naar buiten bij belasting, moeite met lopen of springen, soms zie je de hond even hinken en dan weer normaal lopen. Bij veel honden zijn beide knie\u00ebn aangedaan (bilateraal), maar het kan ook slechts \u00e9\u00e9n kant betreffen. De aandoening kan al zichtbaar zijn vanaf acht weken oud.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><strong>Oorzaken en Diagnose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\">Patella luxatie heeft vaak een erfelijke basis, net als bijvoorbeeld heup- en elleboogdysplasie. Maar ook omgevingsfactoren, zoals voeding en beweging, spelen een rol. De dierenarts stelt de diagnose door de knieschijf handmatig te onderzoeken en te controleren op speling in het gewricht.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\"><strong>Gradaties van Patella luxatie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\">Patella luxatie vrij (vast):<br \/>De knieschijf is met nauwkeurig onderzoek bij de ontspannen hond niet uit de groeve van het dijbeen te verplaatsen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\">Patella luxatie vrij (flexibel):<br \/>De knieschijf is makkelijk te verschuiven in zijwaartse richting tot op de rand van de groeve, maar er niet overheen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\">Patella luxatie Graad 1:<br \/>Alleen bij zijwaartse druk op de patella is deze te verplaatsen (naar binnen en\/of naar buiten) uit de groeve en keert, na loslaten, spontaan direct terug in de groeve.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\">Patella luxatie Graad 2:<br \/>De patella luxeert spontaan uit de groeve naar binnen en\/of naar buiten en keert ook weer spontaan terug in de groeve door draaien aan het onderbeen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\">Patella luxatie Graad 3:<br \/>De patella ligt permanent (blijvend) buiten de groeve, naar binnen of naar buiten, maar is manueel terug te plaatsen in de groeve.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: center;\">Patella luxatie Graad 4 \/ operatie:<br \/>De patella ligt permanent buiten de groeve, naar binnen of naar buiten, en is niet manueel terug te plaatsen in de groeve.
